Suitable POF dimensions depend on product size and the machine's feeding and sealing arrangement. Thickness alone is not a complete measure of suitability; film construction and application also influence performance.
Measure for width
Measure product width and height and define the number of items per pack. Establish whether flat or centre-folded film is used and determine clearance and sealing allowance with equipment and supplier data. Check roll diameter and core compatibility.
Trial thickness
Compare candidate thicknesses against product weight, corner shape, seal and distribution conditions. Record line waste, film use per pack and damage rates together. The thinnest option may not give the lowest total cost on every line.
