PLC modules, sensors and control equipment may be small, yet model and connector compatibility can be critical. A module matched with the wrong accessory, damaged pins or an unreadable label can delay commissioning at the site. Packaging should protect the product and ensure the correct part reaches the right project.
Identify the part and its ESD sensitivity
Verify product code, hardware revision, serial or lot number and required accessories against the dispatch list. If the manufacturer’s ESD procedure requires it, use antistatic protective packaging. Do not let the ESD material obscure the product label or serial number.
Protect connectors and pins against bending, contamination and contact. Do not place rail clips, connectors or small sensor fittings loosely on top of a module; use a separate identified compartment.
Use compartmented cartons and repeatable labels
If several modules share a carton, assign a separate position to each model and make counting straightforward. Void fill should prevent movement without pressing on delicate connection points.
Match project or work-order details, product code and quantity on the carton to warehouse records. Seal the flaps with carton tape; ensure tape or external wrap does not cover serial labels and barcodes. Do not mix different modules loose in one compartment.
Reduce shortages and damage at site receipt
Include a contents list and part sequence for the installation team. For pallet shipments, balance cartons by size and weight and trial the stretch-wrap tension to avoid carton crushing.
At receipt, record labels, carton condition, piece count and connector protection. Inspect opened or wet packs before commissioning. Review the packing standard whenever a product revision changes.

Frequently asked questions
Should PLC modules ship in antistatic bags?
When required by the manufacturer’s procedure or product sensitivity; the maker determines the appropriate ESD class.
Can different modules share a carton?
Yes, in separately labelled positions where they cannot contact each other.
Does outer carton tape protect connector pins?
No. Tape closes the carton; connectors and modules need internal protection.
