Select the tape and machine together
Automatic sealing depends on tape type, equipment operation and carton dimensions. A system designed for pressure-sensitive tape is not automatically suitable for water-activated tape. Confirm compatibility with both equipment and tape suppliers.
Check roll and box dimensions
Tape width, roll diameter and core size must match the equipment. Follow the manufacturer's setup instructions when carton height or width varies.
Trial settings in production
Tape feed, cutting mechanism and application pressure need appropriate settings. Water-activated systems also require checks of water supply and moistening. Observe cutting and tape-end adhesion at the intended line speed.
Maintain quality checks
Inspect sample cartons at shift start and after roll changes. Record wrinkles, incomplete cuts, short tape ends and lifting, then adjust the cause of the issue.
Trial plan
- Use different box sizes and actual filled weights.
- Check a suitable number of samples at the target line speed.
- Inspect closure integrity after storage and transport.
- Review results with the tape and equipment suppliers.
