One rule does not cover every tape
Kraft tapes may contain adhesive, printing or reinforcing fibres alongside the paper backing. Construction and recycling-facility acceptance vary. A paper-like appearance alone does not mean a product is accepted everywhere.
Check local collection rules first
Consult the local municipality or licensed waste collector about current requirements for cardboard and tape. Remove tape or labels if the collection service asks you to do so.
Prepare cartons
Empty boxes, separate cushioning and materials not accepted locally, and keep cardboard clean and dry. Flatten it as required by the collection service. For packaging with product residues or hazardous substances, consult the responsible waste operator separately.
Verify product information
Ask the supplier about tape composition and any relevant tests or certifications. A certificate is not a universal recycling guarantee without checking its scope, the specific product and facility conditions.
Business checklist
- Identify the tapes and their materials.
- Obtain the collector's written acceptance requirements.
- Train staff on sorting.
- Update the procedure when local rules change.
