Digital signage displays and large monitors are wide, flat products with surfaces vulnerable to damage. Wrapping a screen in stretch film alone does not prevent panel flex or point pressure. Manufacturer packaging, edge protection, accessory separation and transport orientation should be considered together.
Separate the panel from stands and fittings
Where possible, remove stands, mounting feet, power cables and remotes and pack them in a separate position. FedEx’s monitor guidance also recommends removing detachable stands and peripherals and filling the clearance around the panel with protective material.
Separate the front and back surfaces with a non-marking protective layer. Add suitable edge and corner protection. Follow the maker’s orientation and stacking marks; transport direction may vary by model.
Size the carton, crate or pallet for the actual product
Compare the panel dimensions and packed weight with carrier limits. If the original carton is intact and matches the model, assess whether to use it. Large or heavy displays may require a pallet or special pack under the carrier’s current instructions.
Do not place an accessory box loose on top of the panel. If palletised, restrain the display in the orientation and support arrangement allowed by the manufacturer. Stretch film or a PE outer cover can provide external restraint or weather protection, but it does not cushion the panel internally.
Record handling and receipt checks
Review a sample pack for tip-over, edge-impact and external pressure risks. At delivery, photograph wet, crushed or torn packaging and any visible screen issue.
Place the shipping label on a visible, flat area without covering manufacturer handling marks. Include a checklist of stands and cables for the installation team.

Frequently asked questions
Should a large display travel flat or upright?
Follow the model-specific manufacturer manual and the orientation marks on the original pack.
Does stretch film protect a screen from impact?
No. It can unitise a pallet; the panel surface, edges and internal supports need separate protection.
Can stands and cables ship in the same carton?
Yes, when a separate compartment prevents them from contacting the panel.
