What does reinforcement do?
Reinforced kraft tape contains fibres that influence its mechanical behaviour. The presence of fibres alone does not make a tape suitable for every heavy load: consider tape width, reinforcement pattern and the specific product's technical data together.
Assess the carton and load first
Carton quality, flap closure, cushioning and product movement inside the box matter as much as tape selection. Overfilled cartons or products pushing against the flaps can stress the seal.
Choose an application method
Apply to a clean, dry surface according to the manufacturer's directions. Water-activated products need a suitable dispenser and water setting. Choose a top and bottom closure method suited to the box and supplier's guidance.
Verify in real conditions
Test with the actual carton, product weight and transport arrangement. After handling, inspect for open flaps, torn tape and separation from the carton. Strengthen the box or choose another closure method if needed.
Questions before purchasing
- Which carton surface and load were tested?
- What mechanical properties are stated in the data sheet?
- Is the application equipment compatible?
- Can the supplier assist with a practical trial?
