Business routers, switches and wireless access points often ship with devices and accessories of different sizes in one order. A broken antenna, a power supply pressing against a housing or missing small connectors can cost more operational time than a single damaged carton.
Inventory the model and every accessory
List device model and quantity, antenna, adapter, mount and cable as separate dispatch items. Check the manufacturer’s packaging and orientation instructions. Follow the maker’s ESD packaging procedure for sensitive electronic modules.
If the maker permits, remove antennas and protect them in separate positions. Do not place the power supply and cables loose on top of the device. A clear in-box position for each part helps the receiving team count quickly.
Plan carton voids and closures
Use dividers to prevent devices from contacting each other. Voids should not allow movement, while cushioning should not force the lid against the device. The carton should close comfortably after the internal layout is complete.
Seal the bottom and top seams with carton tape and check edge adhesion. When several cartons are palletised, group similar sizes, place heavier cartons lower and face barcodes outward.
Maintain traceability at the warehouse and destination
Match model, order, lot or serial number and accessory count to your traceability process. Photograph crushed cartons or opened tape at receipt.
Include a contents list for branch or field teams. Check a sample after transit to confirm devices, antennas and connectors remain in position. Do not assume one carton fits every model and accessory combination.

Do network devices need antistatic packaging?
Use the ESD packaging specified by the manufacturer or required by the product sensitivity.
Can cables and power supplies share the device compartment?
Use a separate position whenever contact or pressure could damage the device.
